Together we’re providing loans and donations, giving access to renewable energy and sustainability solutions for small businesses and farmers in developing countries.
This is a cause firmly aligned with our core values at Advance Careers, and we encourage those like-minded businesses in our network to get involved too. Here’s how it works…
How Kiva changes lives.
Supporting thousands of people in over 80 countries around the world, Kiva works with those less fortunate, often financially excluded, and without access to other sources of credit. Many whom Kiva support work multiple jobs just to get enough income to feed and support their families. Borrowers include Farmers, Shop Owners, Builders and Artisans.
As a crowdfunding solution, Kiva has funded $1.6 billion in loans! Here’s how it’s done:
- A borrower applies for a loan
- The loan request is reviewed and approved
- Kiva ‘Lenders’ are notified of the project and can lend or donate
- Fundraising is completed
- The borrower repays the loan
- Lenders use the repayment to fund new loans or donations
A little can go a long way toward helping to build a more sustainable world.
We’re proud to say that as a result of our contribution, we’ve helped Francis, a farmer in Teso District, Kenya and his team, among others. Francis is a group leader formed by 18 farmers working together to farm 16.25 acres of land.
With the profits from the upcoming harvest, Francis plans to send all his eight children to school. Between the farmers in Francis’s Group, the land will be planted using maize seeds and fertilizer purchased with the loan. Additionally, some of the farmers in the group will use the donation to buy a solar-powered light to benefit so many others in need.
