The Company

One of the pioneers in the Large Scale Commercial solar space, the company has been delivering market leading projects since its inception in 2012. Offering more than just design and construct, they also have a significant asset management function with a portfolio of 1,600 sites currently.

The Role

The Lead PV Engineer role involves being the senior point of technical escalation on the project engineer team. You will be overseeing and reviewing designs by project engineers, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards, DNSP requirements, customer requirements, and best industry practices.

Management of workflow, processes and resource allocation along with the overall performance and deliverables of the engineering team as whole will be a key focus of the position. You will be the go to on all things technical design regarding on grid, off grid and storage for commercial solar installation.

The Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a seasoned and experienced commercial solar PV engineer with extensive experience in delivering large scale behind the meter solar and storage (1MW+) projects, and a strong knowledge of electrical safety and protection. Prior experience with a Developer or EPC firm will be a must as the candidate will need to drawn on a wide background of problem solving skills picked up in the field delivering non standard projects such as large scale storage and ground mount.
  
Demonstrated team leadership and management skills will be essential. Along with keen workflow process development skills and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with contractors and clients alike.
CEC Accreditation is a must. RPEQ / RPVIC and Chartered Professional Engineer / NER Credential will be considered favourably.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing/approving designs completed by the Project Engineers and ensuring safe and successful designs
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, DNSP requirements, customer requirements, and best industry practices
  • Ensuring the company is up to date with all relevant standards, DNSP requirements and best industry practices
  • Reviewing and improving workflow/design processes to maximise safety, quality and efficiency
  • Providing guidance and mentoring to Project Engineers and growing the team’s technical capability
  • Supporting management of the Project Engineers including recruitment and performance monitoring
  • Supporting detailed design work on major/complex projects
  • Providing engineering support to other company departments including Solutions team and Service team
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies, opportunities and innovation
  • Manage the engineering processes, workloads and resource allocation within the Engineering Team
