So recruiters suck maybe its your application that sucks

Applying for a job has never been easier with the ‘apply with LinkedIn profile’ feature. Be warned however, it is a trap for some applicants. Those applicants whose Linkedin profiles are sparse and poorly constructed are fast closing their window of opportunity.

I am absolutely not against the efficiency of applying with one’s LinkedIn profile, but do yourself a favour and take the time to provide an impressive, presentable, informative and accurate portrayal of you and your career. Granted not all of us are natural born marketers, in this case please take a look at these two resources I found that will help your cause if applying for jobs via LinkedIn:

I like to think I take every application seriously, but admit I am being pushed by the pandemic of underwhelming ‘LinkedIn profile only’ applications. I find myself unable to entertain such a poor first impression.

Remember, statistically you are applying alongside 50 to 350+ other applicants and a recruiter will typically look at your application for a short period of time. If you show no effort in your LinkedIn profile, you are demonstrating to a potential employer that your work ethic is questionable and general standards are below par. Put your best foot forward and understand the employment market place is very competitive.
